Biopolymer Technology

Biopolymer Technology™

Nature-built matrix. Smarter delivery for every spray.

A new platform from Arihant Group that holds active ingredients in a natural biopolymer matrix, so more of what the farmer applies — sprayed on the leaf or fed through the drip — stays with the crop and keeps working.

What is Biopolymer Technology™?

Biopolymer Technology™ was developed by Arihant Group to overcome the biggest weakness of conventional foliar inputs: a large share of every spray runs off, dries out or washes away before the plant can use it.

Leveraging decades of formulation expertise and in-depth knowledge of plant nutrition, our in-house researchers built a naturally derived biopolymer matrix that carries the active ingredient onto the leaf and holds it there. Instead of beading up and rolling off, the spray spreads into a thin, flexible film that grips the leaf surface.

Biopolymer Technology™ allows liquid fertilizers, biostimulants and crop-care products to work the way they were meant to — in contact with the plant, for longer, at a lower dose.

The same matrix works below ground too. Fed through drip irrigation, it carries nutrients and actives to the root zone and helps hold them there, close to the roots, instead of letting them move below the roots with the next irrigation.

The Science Behind The Film

Four physical effects work together each time a Biopolymer Technology™ product is sprayed.

  • Better wetting

Most leaves carry a waxy, water-repelling layer, so ordinary droplets stay round and roll off. The biopolymer lowers the droplet’s contact angle, so it flattens and covers more leaf area.

  • Surface affinity

The biopolymer is designed to be naturally attracted to the leaf surface. This helps the film anchor to the cuticle instead of simply sitting on top of it.

  • Moisture retention

Natural biopolymers hold water within their structure. The film stays hydrated for longer, which keeps the active in a form the leaf can take up.

  • Rainfastness

Once dry, the film is flexible and cohesive. It resists wash-off by dew, sprinkler irrigation and light rain, so the protection or nutrition stays in place.

How we build it

Every product on this platform goes through a controlled, stage-wise process developed and run entirely in-house. The active is not simply mixed into the polymer. It is bound to the natural polymer and locked inside its matrix, so the two travel onto the leaf together and stay together.

01

Selecting the natural polymer

We start from a natural polymer, chosen for its ability to form a film and bind active ingredients.

02

Activating the polymer

The polymer is processed in stages to open up its structure and prepare binding sites along each chain.

03

Binding the active

The active ingredient - a liquid fertilizer, biostimulant, nutrient or crop-care active - is bound to these sites under controlled conditions, so it is attached to the polymer rather than floating freely in the liquid.

04

Locking it in the matrix

The polymer chains then close into a stable network around the bound active, locking it in place. The finished liquid is balanced for pH, specific gravity and flow, so it stays uniform in the pack and does not separate or settle.

05

Quality check

Every batch is tested for its key parameters before it is packed.

How it works on the leaf

From the spray tank to the plant, the biopolymer matrix works in five simple steps.

01

Mix and spray

The product dissolves easily in water and is applied as a foliar spray.

02

Even spread

Droplets land and spread across the leaf instead of beading up and rolling off.

03

Film forms

As the spray dries, the biopolymer forms a thin, flexible film that grips the leaf surface.

04

Stays on

The film helps the active resist wash-off by dew, irrigation and light rain.

05

Plant takes it up

The active stays in contact with the leaf and is taken up by the plant over a longer period, so less is wasted.

How it works
through drip irrigation

From the fertigation tank to the roots, the same natural polymer matrix works in five steps.

Drip irrigation diagram: product mixed in the tank, flowing through the drip line and held in the root zone
01

Mix in the tank

The product dissolves fully in water and is injected through the fertigation tank or venturi, like any liquid input.

02

Flows clean

The matrix stays fully dissolved in the irrigation water, so it passes through filters, laterals and drippers without settling.

03

Drips at the root

Each dripper delivers the matrix with the water into the wetted zone around the roots.

04

Held in the root zone

The natural polymer is attracted to soil particles and root surfaces. It holds the bound actives near the roots instead of letting them move below the roots with the next irrigation.

05

Taken up by roots

The actives stay within reach of the roots and are taken up over a longer period, so less is lost and more is used by the crop.

The science in the root zone

Three effects keep the actives working where the roots are.

01

Root-zone hold

The natural polymer clings to soil particles and root surfaces, so the actives it carries stay in the wetted zone around the roots.

02

Moisture around the roots

Natural biopolymers hold water within their structure, which helps keep moisture close to the roots.

03

Steady uptake

Because the actives stay within reach of the roots, they are taken up over a longer period instead of in one short burst

Key features

  • Better adhesion

The biopolymer film holds the active on the leaf surface.

  • Uniform coverage

Spray spreads evenly across the leaf for better contact.

  • Rain and dew resistance

Less of the product is washed off after spraying.

  • Longer contact time

The active stays on the plant and keeps working for longer.

  • Works on the leaf and at the root

The same matrix can be sprayed on the leaf or fed through drip irrigation, where it helps hold actives in the root zone.

  • Stable formulation

No phase separation or settling in the pack.

  • Easy to use

Mixes readily in water and fits into existing spray and fertigation schedules.

  • Naturally derived

The biopolymer comes from natural sources and is gentle on crops at the recommended dose.

Benefits for farmers and the soil

Dropper adding liquid to seedlings growing in a petri dish

For the farmer:

  • More result from every spray, because less product is lost in run-off.
  • Better use of fertigation inputs, because more of what goes through the drip stays near the roots.
  • Lower doses of active ingredient to get the job done.
  • Fewer repeat sprays after dew or light rain.
  • More consistent crop response across the field.

For the environment

  • Less product running off into soil and water.
  • Less of the applied nutrients moving below the roots towards groundwater.
  • Lower load of active ingredients and metals reaching the soil.
  • A naturally derived carrier in place of synthetic stickers and spreaders.
